Marv’s September Bike Log

Dear Rouleurs,

September was a wet and windy month that really cramped Team MMT’s cycling. With various parts of Victoria being underwater, MMT probably should be grateful for this minor inconvenience. So here’s the log and stats for September.

After last month’s mega effort 630km seems paltry by comparison. However the bigger picture is that I was within in 250Km of 6,000Km ridden, MMT’s goal for 2016.  I’m guessing that I passed the total on my Round the Bay ride.  More on that next month.

I don’t have any events organised for November, so I’ll have to hunt around.  I have registered for the 2017 version of MS Cycle.

Until next blog, ride safe.

Marv’s August Bike Log

Dear Rouleurs,

It’s been awhile.  Alas the rigours of fatherhood and work have consumed the last three weeks or so.  Watching a thrilling La Vuleta has also been a big and very exciting distraction. The Olympics, on the other hand, were an almost complete disappointment.  More on that later.  So without any further delay, here’s the log and stats for August.

Much to my astonishment, I rode 738km in August, bringing my annual total to 4980km.  I’m now about 950km ahead of my annual target  and this rate I will pass 7000km by the end of the year.  Woo hoo!!!  The highlight of this month, was the week,  book-ended by 1st and 7th, were I rode 209km.

Sunday October 9, is looming large on next month’s calendar, as this will mark the MMT’s first attempt at 100km as part of Around the Bay, organised by the Bicycle Network.  MMT is riding from Alexandra Gardens to Frankston and back.

Until next blog, ride safe.

Marv’s July Bike Log

Dear Rouleurs,
July was an awesome month in the life of MMT. Team MMT’s newest member AJ, grew 5 cm and put on nearly 800 grams. The TDF 2016 was amazing race with so many highlights. Whilst the question of who would be the overall winner, Chris Froome, wasn’t in much doubt after the first week, each stage had its own special flavour.

So after a crappy June, MMT was seriously inspired by the SBS TV coverage. This resulted in very solid 700km effort, despite some truly ghastly weather. Changing a flat near Sandringham FC’s ground in the rain was new low point in my cycling experience and had me wishing for warmer and less windy weather.

Still I’ve passed 4,300 Km and I’m still about 780 Km ahead of my annual target. You see the details here.

Again I have no events planned for August, as I’ll be glued to the 2016 version of the La Vuelta and the Olympic road and track cycling.  Who knows may an Aussie will cash in and collect gold for the road race.

Until next blog, ride safe.

Marv’s May Bike Log

.

Dear Rouleurs,

May was another great month for cycling with again with warm weather.  My standout highlight of April being the Ballarat Autumn Day Ride. A 50 Km ride that I inadvertently turned into 60 Km.  D’oh!!!.  Its really decent ride through farming country and past a sizable wind turbine farm.  This is what my weekly distance count looks like.  I’m about 700 Km ahead of target now and I expect to pass the  3500 Km milestone in June.

Unfortunately I don’t have any events planned for June as I expect that my first born child will be arriving sometime this month 😉

Until next blog, ride safe.
