Marv’s August Ride Log

Dear Rouleurs,

August was another month messed up by YAFF – yet another f&%king flu, at the start and end of the month.  Given that August was a five week month, that lost time really hurt.  Looking out the window at clear windless mornings while coughing up gunk off my lungs, just pissed me off. Repeated trips to the doctor, a chest x-ray and couple of courses of antibiotics still haven’t managed to get MMT back on the bike.

As a consequence, MMT only just scraped past his monthly target.  Boooooo!!! MMT hates YAFFs.  Overall I’m still about 695km ahead of the weekly accumulated target as of the 2nd September. MMT is hoping for much better health and progress in September.  So here’s my monthly graph.  Its distinguished by flatline totals at the start and end of the month.

In yet another statistical quirk, while the monthly kilometres was down, MMT’s average suffer score rose from last month’s 36 to this month’s 39.

My ride log is found here.

Until next blog, ride safe.

Marv’s June Bike Log

.

Dear Rouleurs,

June wasn’t much fun as ‘Winter is coming’ moved into ‘Winter has returned’.  Cold temperatures and winds, meant MMT buying a new Castelli jacket and wondering why he was feeling the cold so much, this year.  The first week of was a write-off, with MMT catching Yet Another F$%&king Flu (YAFF) from his darling daughter.  Hence the month’s riding amounted to just over 600 km.    It took a few weeks to shake off as well.

This meant I exceeded my monthly target by just 50km…boo.  However the overall total yearly total is still 704 km ahead of yearly target.  That’s about 6 weeks in terms of time.  So here’s my usual graphs.  As you can see a week was lost at the start, and daily totals were much lower than last month.

Not surprisingly my suffer scores for June were way down.  Last month, MMT’s monthly average was 46.  This month its was 39.

Marv’s March Bike Log

Dear Rouleurs,

March an awesome month for cycling.  MMT clocked up 753.29 Km and beat his old record by some way.   The weather has been excellent, with light winds and mainly sunny conditions.   MTT’s  log and stats can be found here. This puts me over 200 km ahead of my monthly goal of 542km.

The big numbers are longer solo and RCC training rides.  March 26 was the date MMT did the MS Cycle 50 km event.  Here’s the matching suffer score graph for the above graph.

Apparently I suffered more this month than the previous two, despite having no big events in March.

Until next blog, ride safe.

Marv’s February Bike Log

Dear Rouleurs,

Well here’s a first, I’ve actually managed to complete my bike log on the first day of the following month.  Wonders never cease 😉   February was a productive month despite catching gastro and chest cold from No.1 daughter…sigh.  The gastro was particularly unpleasant and nearly forced MMT to withdraw from the Ballarat Classic.    Notwithstanding, I still managed 696  Km for the month, which is a smidge under MMT’s all time record of 702 km.  My log and stats can be found here. This puts me over 150 km ahead of my monthly goal of 542km.

New pretty graph for February.

The big numbers are longer training rides and the Ballarat Classic.  The impact of illness is immediately visible with 2 big gaps around the 12th and 22nd of February.  Here’s the   matching suffer score graph for the above graph.

Apparently, on average, I suffered less than last month. Hopefully that’s a good thing 😉

According to Strava, I seemed to suffer less in the Ballarat Classic than in the Cadel Evans People’s ride.

Until next blog, ride safe.
